October 2026

Welcome! Newsletter number 70.

Fellows. New review! An anarchist Youtuber goes print, how can you not get excited? Read all about it under “From Kyriarchy to Anarchy”.

For junge Welt, I reviewed a new book about the German autonomous movement from the 1980s, Wenn der Himmel brennt, authored by our beloved movement historian Roman Danyluk.

Also for junge Welt, I wrote a portrait of the Berlin bookstore Schwarze Risse, a mainstay of the autonomous left’s infrastructure in Germany for almost half a century. If in town, don’t forget to visit!

As you can tell, it wasn’t just sports in junge Welt this month, and we’re not finished yet with the rest. I also wrote two articles about the recent parliamentary elections in Sweden (the first right after the elections, the second when the final result was announced), and a reportage about the Tornedalians, one of Sweden’s national minorities.

I did, of course, write about sports in junge Welt, too: pigeon racing, kiiking, FLINTA basketball, spikeball, quadball (quidditch).

Pluto Press has announced my book Workers’ Power from Below: Rebuilding Syndicalism for the 21st Century – lots of great contributions!

Two recommendations: Mittens XVX has written a great piece titled “Thoughts on Substack, Digital Platforms, and ‘The Death of Music Journalism’” on DIY Conspiracy, the webzine we cannot praise enough. And trusted comrades in the know insist that a cilip interview with two German lawyers about surveillance and repression should spread far and wide within our movements.

I think that’s it. More next month. Stay safe!
