April 2026

Welcome! Newsletter number 64.

It’s been a turbulent month, but let’s stick to work.

I posted a new review titled “Anarchists in Arms”. (Yes it’s about what you think it is.)

I also wrote reviews of two German books: Spitzel, published in analyse & kritik, and Griff nach Gold. Die andere Geschichte der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft, published in junge Welt.

Sports writing for junge Welt: Dutch ice skating competitions outsourced; Paralympics; biathlon world cup final; Alpine skiing world cup final; ski jumping world cup final.

I also wrote about something different for junge Welt, namely Husby Arbetarcentrum, my favorite Swedish working-class organization.

I gave a presentation on anarchism at Kafé 44 in Stockholm, organized by a prisoners’ support group. It was nice.

Speaking of presentations: excerpts from a panel discussion I held with Erik Helgeson of the Swedish Dock Workers’ Union at the Marx25 conference last October were published in the first 2026 issue of the magazine Brand. (Erik was the important person here, I was just glad to facilitate.)

Bas Umali, whose book Pangayaw and Decolonizing Resistance: Anarchism in the Philippines I edited, wrote a piece called “We Should Not Take Sides” about the inter-imperialist struggle over the West Philippine Sea.

Another PM Press book I edited, Niillas Somby’s autobiography titled In the Hour of the Wolf: Tales of a Sámi Warrior, is now available. It’s a really good book!

A collective by the name of ARC took a lot of time to comment extensively on my 2016 text “Revolution is More Than a Word: 23 Theses on Anarchism”. Their text is highly recommended to anyone not afraid of anarchist nerdery.

The list of worthwhile projects to support is endless. The following two possibilities I’ve been alerted to in the past weeks: boosting the defense fund of the Prairieland anti-ICE protesters, and contributing to the Solidaria Social Center in Stockholm.

More next month. Stay safe!
